A still more glorious awaits

Most of those who would read my blog will recognize this autotuned video of Carl Segan and Stephen Hawkings speeches about the universe being put to song:

I shared it with my dad who reads Hawkings and books on quantum physics and string theory for fun. And I thought I'd share his response on the matter:

Yes it is beautiful. Sadly the vast majority of people really don't appreciate the vast glory of the Universe, they're too busy thinking about the mall or MTV or the next episode of Idol. To attempt to comprehend or begin to understand how incomprehensible the Universe is, or to marvel at magic of the simple structure of reality, is to experience wisdom, to attempt to describe it with words or pictures or music is ART. Science, philosophy and art are the constituent components of that reality.
I'm not trying to wax poetic here, just saying how happy I am that you have a sense of wonder. Never ever lose it.

And I think we should all remember that. How can those words not inspire you? "A still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise- but a galaxy rise! A morning filled with 400 billion suns... the rising of the milky way!" It just makes me want to create a gigantic painting of how beautiful that would be. It's moments like these where I really get excited about being an artist, and start to feel extremely passionate about it, and I thought I'd share this link and my dad's words to help inspire the people around me.
